What Groundwork. collects
Groundwork. collects only the business information necessary to help you build a lender-ready profile. Everything we collect is entered directly by you — we do not pull data from third parties without your knowledge.
"Shared" means shared with lenders or third parties. Your counselor or BDO organization may have visibility into your progress as part of their program — this is disclosed at enrollment.
What Groundwork. never collects
There is a clear line between business readiness data and personal financial data. Groundwork. never crosses that line.
Personal financial data never touches our platform
Personal tax returns, credit reports, personal financial statements, guarantor cash flow analysis, Social Security numbers, bank account numbers, and credit scores are never collected, stored, or processed by Groundwork. This data flows directly between you and your lender.
Who can see your data
Groundwork. has three user types — Borrower, Organization (counselor/BDO), and Loan Officer. Each sees only what is appropriate to their role.
How we use your information
We use your data for one purpose: to help you become lender-ready. That is it.
- +To power your dashboard — Your business data populates your modules, health score, readiness score, and business plan generator.
- +To generate your credit presentation — The business side of your credit memo is auto-populated from your module data. Personal financial data is never included.
- +To support your counselor — If enrolled through an organization, your counselor can see your progress to provide better guidance.
- +To improve the platform — We may use anonymized, aggregated data (never individually identifiable) to improve Groundwork. features and content.
- xWe do not use your data for advertising — We do not serve ads. We do not allow advertisers to target you based on your data. Ever.
- xWe do not sell your data — Your information is never sold to data brokers, lenders, marketers, or any third party.
Your rights
You have full control over your data. Here is what you can request at any time:
- +Access your data — Request a complete export of everything Groundwork. has stored about you.
- +Correct your data — Update any information in your profile directly through the platform at any time.
- +Delete your data — Request complete deletion of your account and all associated data. We will confirm deletion within 30 days.
- +Withdraw consent — You can withdraw consent for your data to be shared with your counselor organization at any time.
- +Know what is shared — You will always be informed before any of your data is shared with a lender or third party.
Legal compliance
Groundwork. is designed to comply with applicable federal and state privacy laws. Our approach is built around data minimization — we only collect what is necessary, and we never collect personal financial data.
Groundwork. is not a financial institution, lender, or credit reporting agency. We do not make lending decisions. This platform is a business development and loan readiness tool. Compliance status reflects our design intent — consult a qualified attorney for legal advice specific to your situation.
